View productThe RUBI TZ is a high-performance professional manual tile cutter designed for intensive cutting of porcelain tile, extruded stoneware, and all types of ceramic tile; it is especially suitable for large-format and thick materials.
The RUBI TZ is a line of professional manual tile cutters designed for installation jobs that require high cutting power, a particularly robust frame, and the ability to work with large-format ceramic tiles. RUBI intends this line for the intensive cutting of all types of ceramic tile; it is particularly well-suited for porcelain tile and extruded stoneware—materials that, due to their hardness, dimensions, or thickness, can be challenging for a conventional manual tile cutter. The product family currently consists of five models—TZ-850, TZ-1020, TZ-1300, TZ-1550, and TZ-1800—that share the same machine design and differ primarily in their cutting capacity, maximum diagonal cut, and weight.
One of the TZ’s key features is its high-performance multi-point separator, capable of delivering a maximum force of 1,500 kg in any of its five versions. Its mechanism has been designed to allow professionals to control both the movement and the subsequent separation of the tile with just one hand. This is especially practical when working with large-format tiles, as it allows for greater control over the tile throughout the entire process. RUBI refers to this concept as PURE POWER and emphasizes that the guidance and splitting system is designed to maintain smooth movement even as the pressure applied during scoring increases.
The splitter assembly also features three working positions that allow it to be adapted to the process being performed. Position 0 is used during the scoring of the tile. Position 1 is intended for splitting tiles with thicknesses ranging from approximately 16 to 21 mm, while position 2 is used for splitting materials 15 mm or thinner. In this way, the mechanism’s position can be adjusted to the piece’s thickness before breaking it—a feature that is especially useful when alternating between materials of different thicknesses.
The precision of the movement is ensured by closed-section extruded aluminum guides with a chrome-plated steel raceway. A double-row radial ball bearing system operates on these guides, designed to provide smooth, stable, and precise movement of the head. The separator uses a forged aluminum ram and slides, while the guide supports are made of die-cast aluminum. The assembly is mounted on a steel frame, designed to provide high resistance to bending and greater durability when the machine repeatedly processes demanding materials.
The range incorporates the SLS (Secure Lock System), designed to ensure precise blade clamping and facilitate use with compatible blades from the PLUS family. The TZ is currently listed in RUBI’s documentation in conjunction with PLUS scoring wheels of various diameters and specifications, allowing the scoring process to be adapted to the type of ceramic being cut. As standard, the technical documentation specifies the Ø8 mm SILVER and Ø22 mm PLUS EXTREME cutting discs, two options particularly useful for handling everything from general tasks to harder materials and more demanding surfaces.
Ergonomics has also been taken into account. The lever features a Soft-Grip handle to improve grip and comfort during long workdays, while the handle shaft is made of aluminum and has a diameter of 22 mm. On a machine designed for intensive use, these features help ensure proper control of the pressure applied during scoring and when operating the separator.
To provide a stable surface when working with large formats, the TZ features floating and foldable aluminum tables and side supports with a suspension system. These supports expand the usable surface area on which the tile rests and reduce the need to manually hold areas that extend beyond the main body of the cutter. Proper support is especially important for large-format porcelain tiles, where inadequate support can affect both the scoring and the subsequent cutting of the tile.
Another notable feature is its swivel square with a central pivot, designed to facilitate both measurement and the execution of angled cuts. Its ends are detachable, and the system features a knob-operated lock to securely fix the selected position. In addition, there is a 30-cm side guide that can be adjusted between 45° and 90°, specifically designed for making repetitive cuts. This configuration allows you to set a measurement or angle and replicate it on successive tiles more quickly than if each tile had to be measured from scratch.
The published thickness capacity for the entire product line ranges from 3 to 21 mm, but this information must be interpreted correctly. RUBI expressly warns that certain ceramic materials thicker than 15 mm may present difficulties for manual cutting due to their physical characteristics, internal stresses, or certain surface finishes. When working with a thick tile whose behavior is unknown, it is recommended to perform a test cut beforehand. Therefore, 21 mm represents the machine’s maximum specified cutting capacity and is not a guarantee that any ceramic material of that thickness can be cut manually under all circumstances.
The RUBI TZ-850, with part number 17952 and EAN 8413797179521, is the most compact model in the series. It has a maximum cutting length of 85 cm and allows for diagonal cuts on tiles up to 60 × 60 cm. It handles tile thicknesses ranging from 3 to 21 mm, maintains the 1,500 kg maximum cutting force common to the entire range, and has a net weight of 19 kg. It is the ideal choice within the TZ family when there is no regular need to work with formats larger than 85 cm and you want to retain all the power and professional build quality of this range. Its specific technical specifications confirm these capabilities.
The RUBI TZ-1020, part number 17951 and EAN 8413797179514, increases the maximum cutting length to 102 cm and allows for diagonal cutting of tiles up to 70 × 70 cm. Its working range remains from 3 to 21 mm, with a maximum cutting force of 1,500 kg, and its net weight is 19.5 kg. This represents a significant increase in capacity compared to the TZ-850 with a very small difference in net weight, making it particularly useful when regularly working with tiles nearly one meter in length.
The RUBI TZ-1300, with part number 17953 and EAN 8413797179538, extends the straight-cut length to 130 cm and accommodates a maximum diagonal size of 90 × 90 cm. It retains the maximum cutting force of 1,500 kg and the thickness range of 3 to 21 mm. Its net weight is 24.5 kg. This model represents a leap toward formats well over one meter and may be particularly suitable for tile installers who frequently work with large-format modern porcelain tiles but do not yet require the 155- or 180-cm capabilities of the higher-end models.
The RUBI TZ-1550, part number 17954 and EAN 8413797179545, provides a maximum cutting length of 155 cm and allows for diagonal cutting of tiles up to 110 × 110 cm. It accommodates tile thicknesses from 3 to 21 mm, offers a maximum cutting force of 1,500 kg, and has a net weight of 25.5 kg. Its greater capacity makes it ideal for installations where long-format tiles are common and where a shorter cutter would require the use of other cutting systems.
Finally, the RUBI TZ-1800, part number 17924 and EAN 8413797179248, is the highest-capacity model in the current product line. It achieves a maximum straight-cut length of 180 cm and accommodates a maximum diagonal size of 120 × 120 cm. It maintains the thickness range of 3 to 21 mm and 1,500 kg of cutting force, with a net weight of 28.9 kg according to its official technical specifications. It is designed for professionals who need to manually cut particularly long pieces without sacrificing the TZ series’ multi-point cutting system.
The TZ cutters use RUBI’s PLUS blade system. Currently, the manufacturer lists the following blades for this series: Rodel PLUS Ø10 mm, part number 01991; Rodel PLUS Ø8 mm SILVER, part number 01959; Rodel PLUS Ø18 mm, part number 01992; PLUS Cutter Wheel Ø10 mm GOLD, part number 01993; PLUS Cutter Wheel Ø8 mm ENDURE for TX and TZ, part number 01903; and PLUS Cutter Wheel Ø22 mm EXTREME for TX and TZ, part number 01900. The technical documentation also specifies that the machine comes standard with the Ø8 mm SILVER and Ø22 mm PLUS EXTREME cutting wheels. RUBI also lists the Maintenance Kit, part number 18980, as a compatible accessory.
The ability to work with different cutting discs allows for better adaptation of the scoring to the material being cut. The diameter or type of cutting disc should not be viewed simply as a matter of size: the different versions are designed to address varying surface characteristics, hardness, and behavior of the tile. For this reason, choosing the correct cutting disc can have a direct impact on the quality of the scoring and, subsequently, on the cleanliness of the cut.
Which model should you choose?
The main difference between the five TZ models is not in power: all offer the same 1,500 kg cutting capacity and can handle tile thicknesses up to 21 mm. The choice should be based primarily on the size of the tile you will be working with. The TZ-850 has a cutting width of 85 cm; the TZ-1020 reaches 102 cm; the TZ-1300, 130 cm; the TZ-1550, 155 cm; and the TZ-1800 reaches 180 cm. The increased capacity also allows for progressively handling diagonal cuts of 60 × 60, 70 × 70, 90 × 90, 110 × 110, and 120 × 120 cm, respectively.
Therefore, there is no need to choose the largest model if the standard formats do not require that length. A machine tailored to the actual size of the pieces being worked on allows you to retain all the features of the TZ system while avoiding the need for a cutter larger than necessary.
