Description

The RUBI TK is a professional manual tile cutter designed for intensive tile installation work that requires a combination of high cutting capacity, scoring precision, and ease of use with large-format tiles. RUBI classifies this line within its Premium category and recommends it for intensive cutting of all types of ceramic tiles, with a special focus on porcelain tiles. The official Spanish website also highlights its use on porcelain tile and extruded stoneware. The line consists of four sizes—TK-850, TK-1020, TK-1300, and TK-1600—allowing users to select the machine based on the typical size of the tiles they need to cut.

One of the main differences between the TK and a conventional manual cutter is its asymmetrical single guide. Instead of positioning the guide directly in the line of sight, RUBI offsets its position to provide the user with a direct and virtually unobstructed view of the blade during scoring. This configuration is designed to improve path control, which is particularly important when working with large pieces where even a small initial deviation can affect the outcome of the entire cut. RUBI introduced the TK in 2025 as the world’s first asymmetric single-guide cutter and notes that this configuration provides visibility comparable to that of its traditional dual-guide machines.

The cutting assembly is another key feature of the machine. The TK delivers a maximum cutting force of 1,500 kg and uses a trigger-operated mechanism that allows scoring and cutting operations to be performed with just one hand. This high capacity is specifically designed for high-strength ceramic materials and thicker porcelain tiles, where a machine with lower capacity may struggle to achieve a clean cut after scoring. The system is multipoint, allowing the cutter to be positioned at the appropriate location on the tile before making the cut.

The structure has also been designed with the high loads that a cutter of this type can withstand in mind. The TK features a steel frame and an extruded aluminum guide with a closed profile and a chrome-plated steel raceway. RUBI combines the chassis and the guide to increase the rigidity of the assembly and reduce its deflection during operation. It also incorporates radial bearings designed to maintain smooth and precise movement even during the most demanding jobs. The sliding elements and the spacer use forged aluminum components, while the guide supports are made of cast aluminum. According to the manufacturer’s technical specifications, this design aims to increase both the robustness and durability of the unit and reduce wear caused by intensive use.

For custom cuts and repetitive cuts, the TK features a removable, rotating aluminum square with a magnetic clamp. The square uses a magnetic system to prevent shifting or misalignment during positioning and also features a screw clamp to fully lock the square in place when necessary. In addition, there is a 30-cm side stop, adjustable between 45° and 90°, which makes it easier to position the tile and repeat the same measurement. These features mean that the TK is not designed exclusively for full-length straight cuts, but also for the repetitive work typical of professional installations.

Large-format tiles require a sufficient support surface to prevent movement during scoring. For this reason, the machine includes foldable table extensions with a suspension system, designed to expand the tile’s support area. The machine’s frame itself can be folded to reduce its size during transport. RUBI includes rubber wheels and a handle to facilitate movement, as well as a reinforced fabric carrying case or bag designed to protect the cutter during transport and storage. The official documentation specifically highlights that the design of the guide-chassis assembly and the tables allows the machine to be folded and transported more conveniently.

The handle features a Soft-Grip finish, designed to improve grip and comfort during use. This feature is particularly important in a machine intended for intensive use, since both scoring and the continuous operation of the cutter are performed directly from the movable assembly. The TK also incorporates the Secure Lock System (SLS) PLUS, which allows users to work with RUBI’s compatible PLUS-series cutting wheels. According to the factory specifications, the machine comes standard with two cutting discs: the Ø8 mm SILVER PLUS and the Ø22 mm EXTREME PLUS, providing two scoring options to better adapt the tool to the material and characteristics of the tile.

Regarding thickness, RUBI specifies a range of 3 to 21 mm for all four variants and a splitter capacity of 1,500 kg. There is, however, an important technical consideration that buyers should be aware of: the manufacturer’s own technical specifications warn that certain ceramic materials thicker than 15 mm may present difficulties for manual cutting due to their physical characteristics, internal stresses, or surface finishes. The fact that the machine can handle up to 21 mm does not, therefore, mean that any tile of that thickness can be cut manually with the same result. RUBI recommends performing test cuts when working with particularly thick materials or those with unknown properties.

Variants, part numbers, EANs, and capacities

The RUBI TK-850 corresponds to part number 15956 and has the EAN 8413797159561. It offers a maximum straight-cut length of 85 cm, allows for diagonal cutting of tiles up to 60 × 60 cm, and supports published thicknesses ranging from 3 to 21 mm. Its maximum cutting force is 1,500 kg. The net weight of the tile cutter is 19 kg.

The RUBI TK-1020, part number 15957 and EAN 8413797159578, increases the straight-cut length to 102 cm and allows for diagonal cutting of tiles up to 70 × 70 cm. It maintains the thickness range of 3 to 21 mm and the 1,500 kg maximum cutting capacity. Its net weight is 19.5 kg, and the listed weight with the carrying case is 26 kg.

The RUBI TK-1300 has part number 15958 and EAN 8413797159585. Its straight-cut capacity reaches 130 cm, while its diagonal-cut capacity allows for working with tiles up to 90 × 90 cm. It maintains a cutting range of 3 to 21 mm and a maximum splitting force of 1,500 kg. The net weight increases to 24.5 kg and reaches 32.5 kg with the transport system, according to RUBI.

The higher-capacity model is the RUBI TK-1600, part number 15959 and EAN 8413797159592. It is designed for straight cuts up to 160 cm and diagonal cuts on tiles up to 110 × 110 cm. Its published cutting range remains 3 to 21 mm, with a maximum cutting capacity of 1,500 kg. The net weight is 25.5 kg, and the weight with the carrying case is 34 kg.

Blades, Consumables, and Maintenance

The TK models are compatible with Secure Lock System PLUS blades. The standard configuration listed in the technical data sheet includes an Ø8 mm SILVER PLUS blade and an Ø22 mm EXTREME PLUS blade. In addition, on the product page, RUBI lists the following cutters as compatible with the TK: PLUS Ø10 mm cutter, ref. 01991; PLUS Ø8 mm SILVER cutter, ref. 01959; PLUS Ø18 mm cutting disc, ref. 01992; PLUS Ø10 mm GOLD cutting disc, ref. 01993; PLUS Ø8 mm ENDURE cutting disc, ref. 01903; and PLUS Ø22 mm EXTREME cutting disc, ref. 01900. The RUBI Maintenance Kit, item number 18980, is also available as a maintenance accessory. The choice of grinding disc must be adapted to the type, hardness, and surface characteristics of the tile being worked on.
