SANIGEL - Quitamanchas, Decapante y Desengrasante

Sanigel Monestir is a concentrated alkaline cleaner designed for heavy-duty cleaning, degreasing, and removing old finishes from flooring. It can be used indoors and outdoors on terracotta, fired clay, rustic stoneware, glazed ceramic, porcelain tile, aged marble, slate, stone, hydraulic mosaic, and concrete.

It is designed to remove household stains from oil, grease, wine, or coffee, and to strip flooring previously treated with waxes, oils, varnishes, or polyurethanes. Monestir also recommends it for degreasing floors treated with linseed oil, blackberry oil, and similar products; removing graffiti from certain building facades; and removing residues of epoxy-based grout.

The concentration should be adjusted according to the type of dirt. To remove particularly stubborn varnishes or coatings, it can be used undiluted. To strip oils and waxes, Monestir recommends approximately 1 part Sanigel to 3 parts water. For deep cleaning or surface dirt on floors that already have a protective treatment, a dilution ratio of approximately 1:10 can be used, which reduces the impact on the existing treatment.

This ability to adjust the concentration means that the same product can be used for both deep maintenance and complete stripping.

The floor must be swept and completely dry. Dilute the product according to the task at hand, apply it with a mop, and let it sit before scrubbing.

Surface cleaning

Once the dirt or finish has been softened, re-wet the surface and scrub vigorously. You can use a scouring pad, a bristle brush, or a rotary machine. Monestir recommends nylon brushes or pads for more delicate surfaces and more aggressive systems, such as Tynex, for hard floors or intensive stripping.

After scrubbing, rinse thoroughly and remove the dirty water with a mop, sponge, or wet vacuum before it re-penetrates the porous surface.

For stripping jobs, Monestir recommends performing a final rinse with a solution of approximately 1 part Sanet to 20 parts water. This neutralization helps eliminate any alkaline residues from Sanigel and reduces the risk of subsequent whitish efflorescence.

The approximate coverage is 5 to 8 m²/L, although this depends heavily on the dilution ratio, the degree of soiling, and the absorbency of the surface. The recommended working temperature is 5 to 35 °C, and tools should be cleaned with water.

The Monestir technical data sheet, revised in January 2026, describes an alkaline aqueous formulation containing alkali hydroxides, surfactants, phosphonates, and other cleaning agents. Due to its highly alkaline nature, it can cause skin burns and serious eye injuries. Gloves and eye protection must be worn, and splashing should be avoided.

Do not apply to materials sensitive to alkaline detergents, especially wood, paint, or certain plastic coatings. It is always recommended to conduct a preliminary test to determine the appropriate concentration and contact time.
