PERVIA® - Sistema de Hormigón Drenante
Highly permeable concrete designed for sustainable rainwater management. Prevents puddles, reduces runoff, and efficiently recharges natural aquifers.
General Description
Functionality PERVIA® is an innovative porous concrete solution that allows water to pass directly through its porous structure. Thanks to carefully controlled grain size and the elimination of fine aggregates in its formulation, this system creates a network of interconnected voids that ensure immediate, high-capacity vertical drainage. Its design not only prevents surface water accumulation, but also acts as a primary filter, reducing the load of contaminants before the water reaches the subsoil.
In addition to its hydraulic function, PERVIA® stands out for its ability to mitigate the "heat island" effect in urban environments and for its direct contribution to obtaining credits in demanding environmental certifications, by promoting the natural water cycle and minimizing the impact on traditional sewerage networks.
When to use it? PERVIA® is the ideal technical choice for urbanization and landscaping projects where efficient stormwater management is a priority. Its most notable applications include: Outdoor parking areas for light vehicles. Sidewalks, pedestrian walkways, and public squares. Bike lanes and trails in natural parks.
Residential access roads and low-traffic developments. Swimming pool environments and sports areas without continuous impact. Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS). It is especially recommended in areas with strict regulations on the discharge of stormwater into the municipal network or where it is necessary to maximize the permeable surfaces of the architectural project. Application method
The installation of PERVIA® requires specific protocols, different from those used for conventional concrete, to ensure that its porous network does not collapse or seal during the process. The following should be considered: A properly designed subbase (clean gravel) to temporarily store the drained water. Use of specialized machinery (low-frequency vibrating screeds or light compacting rollers) for spreading.
Exhaustive control of hydration during unloading, as it is a mixture with a very low water/cement ratio. Immediate protection after spreading with plastic sheets for optimal wet curing for at least 7 days. Avoid the passage of heavy vehicles or construction machinery during and after application so as not to damage the porous structure.
What makes it different? Exceptional drainage capacity (allows hundreds of liters per square meter per minute to pass through). Eliminates the risk of aquaplaning and the formation of surface ice patches in winter. Reduces or eliminates the need to install costly underground drainage systems and storm drains.
Protects tree roots in tree pits by allowing oxygenation and water to pass through to the ground. Available in different colors to suit the aesthetic design of the environment. PERVIA® transforms traditional rigid pavements into active infrastructures, allies of the water cycle and essential for the urban planning of the future.
