Description

Specialized Cleaning After Epoxy Grouting

FILA CR10 is a concentrated professional cleaner specifically developed to remove residues of epoxy grout, stains, streaks, and traces of epoxy-based adhesives. It is intended for post-installation cleaning on porcelain tile, glazed ceramic tile, glass mosaic, and glazed clinker, for both interior and exterior flooring and wall surfaces.

Its application is very specific
it is neither a general-purpose degreaser nor an acid-based post-construction cleaner. CR10 is formulated to soften epoxy resin residues, including thick and already hardened residues, allowing for their subsequent removal by mechanical means.

Why Its Viscosity Matters

One of the characteristics that sets CR10 apart from other cleaners is its high viscosity. The formulation remains in contact with the residue for a longer period of time and prevents the product from running off quickly, which is especially useful on walls, mosaics, vertical surfaces, and joints where epoxy residue is located.

FILA’s action is based on a combination of surfactants, water-soluble solvents, and an alkaline component that progressively softens the resin residue.

Technical Data

The current professional technical data sheet states

Appearance
viscous liquid.
pH
10.5.
Density
1.010 kg/L.
VOC
approximately 25.78 g/L.

Formulation containing soaps at a concentration of less than 15% and water-soluble solvents.

5–30 °C.
Application temperature
5–30 °C.
Approximate coverage
up to 10 m²/L, depending on the amount and age of the residue.

The current formulation contains no acids, ammonia, sodium hydroxide, EDTA, or phosphates. FILA also states that it contains up to 98% biodegradable ingredients in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 648/2004 and that it is suitable for HACCP cleaning protocols.

Application on Hardened Residues

CR10 is used undiluted. Shake the container well before use.

Once the epoxy grout has reached the curing time specified by the manufacturer, apply CR10 with a brush or applicator, completely covering all visible residue.

Allow it to act for approximately 30 minutes. During this time, the product gradually softens the resin.

Next, work the surface with an abrasive sponge. For thicker buildup, a spatula compatible with the material’s finish may be used with care.

For large flooring areas, FILA recommends using a single-disc machine with the appropriate pad, which facilitates uniform cleaning of large surfaces.

Finally, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water and completely remove both the product and the loosened residue. If particularly old or stubborn residue remains, the treatment can be repeated by gradually increasing the contact time.

Professional Application and Tools

In addition to brushes and sponges, FILA recommends the use of an applicator pad, a manual scrubber, a single-disc machine, and a wet vacuum, depending on the scope of the job. Tools should be cleaned with water immediately after use.

Important limitations

CR10 is designed for non-absorbent materials. It should not be used on wood, absorbent materials, or methacrylate surfaces.

On metal surfaces, a test should first be conducted to verify the material’s resistance to the product. FILA always recommends testing on a small area before general treatment, both to verify material compatibility and to determine the optimal contact time.

Do not confuse this product with Deterdek Pro: CR10 is specifically designed for epoxy resins and joints, while Deterdek Pro is primarily intended for cementitious residues, efflorescence, and post-construction acid cleaning.
