View productGalvanized steel longitudinal connector for extending Knauf CD 60/27 main studs while maintaining the continuity and alignment of the profile in ceilings and wall systems.
The Knauf CD 60/27 Main Stud Coupler is a specialized accessory designed to join two CD 60/27 profiles lengthwise and extend their length within drywall structures.
It is used when the standard length of a main beam is insufficient to span the intended run of a suspended or lined ceiling in a single piece. Instead of improvising overlaps or using non-system components, the connector provides a geometry specifically designed to fit the CD 60/27 profile.
Knauf classifies this accessory within the group of splices, clearly distinguishing it from cross-joints and hangers. Its function is to extend a main profile in the same direction; it is not intended to connect intersecting primary and secondary profiles.
The current component incorporates several features designed to facilitate installation. Knauf highlights:
A specific support that allows the coupler to be easily moved within the profile during installation.
Rounded edges, which facilitate insertion and alignment.
Flexible wings that adapt properly to the interior of the CD 60/27 main profile.
A particularly flat base.
Geometric compatibility with the system’s cross-joints, ensuring that the coupler does not block the cross connector.
This last feature is particularly important in ceilings with more complex framing: the longitudinal extension of the CD must not interfere with the points where primary and secondary profiles subsequently connect.
The Knauf Maestra CD 60/27 has a nominal cross-section of 60 × 27 mm and is used as a framework for fastening gypsum board to continuous ceilings and certain wall linings.
The coupler must be considered part of the complete system. Its presence does not authorize arbitrary modifications to the spacing of main profiles, hangers, or support points. The position of the couplers and the general layout of the profiles must follow the technical data sheet for the specific Knauf system being installed.
The current technical data sheet for CD 60/27 accessories specifies manufacture from DX51D galvanized steel with protection equal to or greater than Z100.
Knauf classifies this family of accessories according to EN 13964, with initial type testing, factory production control, and CE marking where applicable to the individual product.
The galvanized protection is designed for the service conditions established for these interior systems. For ceilings exposed to particularly humid or corrosive environments, there are specific product lines with superior protection; it should not be assumed that a standard accessory offers the same corrosion resistance as a C3-C5M or Z4 component.
The ends of the two CD 60/27 main profiles must be kept properly aligned, and the joint must be inserted and locked into place according to the geometry specified by Knauf.
The direction of the profile.
The functional cross-section of the main profile.
The geometric continuity of the framework.
Compatibility with the remaining ceiling accessories.
The joint must not be arbitrarily modified, drilled, or deformed to adapt it to different uses. Knauf expressly warns that its accessories are designed for specific functions and that on-site modifications may alter the system’s tested performance.
It must be stored in a dry place, protected from direct moisture, solar radiation, and chemicals capable of damaging the galvanized coating.
The steel accessories used in Knauf ceiling systems can be removed by hand and are 100% recyclable when properly separated from other construction and demolition waste.
