Project-dependent decisions
- ✓W623 requires a substrate that can accept direct anchors.
- ✓W625 and W626 are preferred where acoustic improvement is the main goal or the wall is uneven.
- ✓Final acoustic performance depends on base wall, cavity, insulation and boards, not on the lining alone.
Common mistakes
- !Selecting W623 without checking substrate or anchor depth.
- !Keeping 600 mm centres for a tiled W625 where 400 mm maximum is required.
- !Ignoring bracing and permitted height.
- !Publishing a lining Rw as if it were independent from the existing wall.
