The Knauf F47 Main Profile Joint is a specific accessory for the F47/17 system designed to connect two consecutive main profiles and extend their length within drywall structures. It is primarily used in suspended and lined ceilings constructed with F47 main profiles, when the available length of the profile is insufficient to complete the required span.
Its geometry is designed to fit the cross-section of the Knauf F47/17 main profile, ensuring that the profile remains longitudinally aligned at the joint. Using a system-specific accessory prevents makeshift solutions involving overlaps or non-system components that could compromise the intended performance of the substructure.
The F47 Main Profile is part of numerous Knauf solutions for continuous ceilings and wall cladding. In these structures, there are accessories with clearly distinct functions: hangers to connect the framing to the base ceiling, connectors and cross-braces to create intersections between profiles, and splices to extend them.
The F47 Coupler specifically belongs to this last category. It does not replace a hanger or a cross-connector; its function is to maintain the continuity of a main beam when two sections must be connected in the same direction.
Knauf includes it in its range of accessories for suspended and cladding ceiling systems using the F47/17 main beam.
The accessory is made of DX51D-type galvanized steel sheet with a minimum Z140 coating. The Knauf technical data sheet K613b.es specifies a sheet thickness of approximately 0.6 mm ±0.05 mm for this family of accessories.
The galvanized coating provides protection for the steel during use in the environments for which the system is designed. Like any metal drywall accessory, it must be stored in a dry place, protected from direct moisture, water, and chemicals that could damage the coating.
Knauf accessories for Maestra F47/17 are manufactured in accordance with EN 13964, the standard for suspended ceilings and their components. They undergo initial type testing and factory production control to obtain the corresponding CE marking.
DX51D galvanized steel ≥ Z140.
Approximate sheet thickness of 0.6 mm ±0.05 mm.
Manufactured in accordance with EN 13964.
Intended for use as a component in drywall systems.
Material is fully recyclable when properly separated from other construction waste.
The connector is placed at the joint between two F47 main profiles, following the layout specified by Knauf. The main profiles must be properly aligned, and the connector must be fully engaged to maintain the geometric continuity of the profile.
The position of joints within a ceiling, profile spacing, spacing of hangers, and arrangement of accessories must always follow the technical data sheet for the specific Knauf system being installed. The fact that a main profile can be extended does not mean that the structural spacing specified for the system can be freely modified.
Knauf also notes that its accessories are designed for specific functions and that on-site modifications or substitutions with different components may alter the verified performance of the system as a whole.
It must be stored protected from moisture and direct sunlight, taking special care to avoid prolonged contact with liquids or chemicals. Since this is a small piece of galvanized steel, it should be kept in its packaging until use to prevent deformation or loss on-site.
