DESMOCEM RETARD - Retardante superficial de fraguado

Neoquim Desmocem Retard is a chloride-free, paste-form surface retarder for mortars and concrete. Its function is to delay the hardening of the surface layer of the cement while the interior continues to set, allowing that layer to be subsequently removed with pressurized water and revealing the concrete’s aggregate.

It is particularly suitable for producing exposed-aggregate concrete elements, achieving uniform decorative finishes, or creating rough surfaces that promote adhesion of a subsequent layer of mortar or concrete. Its viscous consistency allows the product to adhere to vertical surfaces and molds, while the anticorrosive additives help protect metal formwork.

The mold must be dry and free of dust, grease, and mortar residue. Desmocem Retard is applied with a brush or roller to the surface that will come into contact with the concrete; on highly absorbent forms, a second coat may be necessary. The finishing is typically performed one to two days later, depending on environmental conditions, by removing the retarded surface with pressurized water. The available technical documentation indicates a pH of 8.0 ± 0.5, an approximate density of 1.083 kg/L, complete solubility in water, and the absence of chlorides.
