Description

Chemical Conversion of Rust

Neoquim Conver Ox is a treatment specifically designed for iron and other ferrous metal surfaces affected by corrosion. It reacts directly with existing rust and transforms it into a black or bluish metal-organic complex, halting further oxidation. This allows metal structures to be treated without the need to completely remove all firmly adhered rust through intensive sanding.

Preparation for Painting

Before application, grease, oil, dust, flaking material, and loosely adhered rust particles must be removed by brushing, sanding, or another mechanical method. Conver Ox can be applied with a brush, roller, or spray onto the dry surface. Once the reaction has occurred, the treated area is stabilized and ready to receive compatible primers or paints.

Technical Data and Uses

The commercial information available for Conver Ox indicates an approximate coverage of 10–20 m²/L, a touch-dry time of about 10–15 minutes, and an approximate reaction time of 2–3 hours, depending on the substrate and environmental conditions.

It is especially suitable for railings, metal doors, machinery, pipes, structures, tools, vehicle bodies, and iron components where the corrosion process has begun. In addition to neutralizing rust, it serves as a primer for subsequent protective and finishing systems, eliminating the need for unnecessarily aggressive stripping when rust is firmly adhered.
