Ampliar Description
General Sealing in Shipbuilding
Sikaflex®-291i is a one-component polyurethane adhesive and sealant developed for boat construction, repair, and maintenance. It cures with atmospheric moisture and forms an elastic joint capable of withstanding vibrations and movement.
Marine Applications
It is suitable for numerous interior sealing applications and for joints subjected to moderate stress. It exhibits very good adhesion to materials commonly used in the marine industry, such as wood, metals, metal primers, two-component paint systems, ceramics, and fiberglass-reinforced plastics.
Performance and Precautions
It offers good resistance to seawater, hydrolysis, and conditions typical of the marine environment. It meets the low flame-spread requirements established by the International Maritime Organization. It should not be used on plastics susceptible to stress cracking or as a substitute for structural adhesives when the joint must withstand high loads. Surface preparation will depend on the material and service conditions.
