Sika
Cotegran 2000 M
A waterproof, decorative single-coat mortar for facades, which can be applied by hand or by spraying.
View productA chloride-free liquid waterproofing additive designed to reduce the permeability of mortar and concrete in swimming pools, tanks, basements, foundations, and hydraulic structures.
Sika®-1 is a liquid, water-repellent additive with normal setting properties designed to produce mortars and concretes with high water resistance. Unlike a paint or membrane applied to the surface afterward, Sika®-1 is incorporated during mixing and acts within the cementitious matrix itself.
Its formulation contains inorganic water-repellent substances that react with the cement during hydration. As a result, mineral substances are formed that seal part of the network of pores and capillaries, hindering the passage of water through the hardened mortar or concrete.
The product is chloride-free, an important characteristic when used in cementitious systems.

The dosage and method of incorporation differ from those used in mortars, so it is important not to apply the same proportion indiscriminately.
To prepare waterproof mortar, Sika Spain specifies the following dilution ratio:
That is, one part Sika®-1 to ten parts mixing water.
The actual amount will depend on the applied thickness and the characteristics of the mix.
For this type of application, Sika recommends the following composition:
1 part cement;
up to a maximum of 3 parts of clean, washed river sand.
The recommended maximum particle size for the sand is approximately 2.5 to 3 mm.
The quality of the aggregate is important. Inappropriate particle size distribution, an excess of fine particles, clay, or contaminants can increase water demand and impair the compactness of the mortar, thereby reducing the performance benefits intended to be achieved with the additive.
When Sika®-1 is used as a concrete waterproofing agent, the recommended dosage changes to:
3% based on the weight of cement.
The dosage must be properly integrated into the mix design and take into account the water-to-cement ratio, particle size distribution, consistency, and placement and curing procedures.
The additive does not correct poorly placed concrete.
Sika®-1 helps reduce permeability, but the final performance also depends on the mortar or concrete being properly designed and placed.

and post-curing.
Excess water can result in a more open capillary structure after evaporation and negate part of the product’s benefits.
Nor does it replace the proper treatment of structural joints, active cracks, utility penetrations, or construction interfaces.
Chloride-free.
Normal setting.
It must be stored in a cool, dry place and protected from freezing.
Sika®-1 complies with UNE-EN 934-2, Table 9, regarding water-repellent admixtures for concrete.
This classification distinguishes the product from surface water repellents: here, the additive is incorporated directly into the cementitious mixture during its production.
Sika®-1 is particularly suitable when the goal is to produce mortar or concrete with reduced permeability from the outset.
