General Description
Mapefer 1K by Mapei is a single-component, anti-corrosive cementitious mortar designed to protect steel bars in deteriorated concrete structures. It only needs to be mixed with water, simplifying preparation and reducing the risk of dosing errors on-site.
Main Applications
It is designed to coat previously cleaned reinforcing bars before applying repair mortars. In addition to protecting the steel from corrosion, it promotes adhesion between the bars, the existing concrete, and the material used to rebuild the damaged section.
Application and Coverage
Mix with 20–22 parts water per 100 parts product and apply with a brush in two coats. The mixture remains workable for approximately one hour; it must reach a minimum thickness of 2 mm, and a drying time of about two hours is required between coats. The repair mortar can be applied after 6–24 hours. It complies with the EN 1504-7 standard and is supplied in boxes containing four 5-kg bags.
