Zócalo
A ceramic trim piece designed to protect the bottom of walls and complete the flooring.
General Description
The baseboard from Ladrillerías Mallorquinas is a machine-made ceramic piece designed to complete the transition between the floor and the wall. It serves as a perimeter trim and protects the lower portion of the wall from impacts, dirt, surface moisture, and routine cleaning.
Its finish ensures aesthetic continuity with the terracotta floor tiles from the same collection. It can be installed in both indoor and outdoor spaces, such as homes, kitchens, hallways, terraces, patios, porches, and commercial areas.
In addition to its protective function, the baseboard conceals the perimeter joint of the flooring and provides a neater finish than a tile cut on-site.
Available Sizes
All variants are 8 cm high and 1.5 cm thick:
20 × 8 × 1.5 cm: 5.13 pieces per linear meter, 3,460 pieces per pallet, and 0.370 kg per unit.
30 × 8 × 1.5 cm: 3.26 pieces per linear meter, 2,150 pieces per pallet, and 0.580 kg per unit.
40 × 8 × 1.5 cm: 2.45 pieces per linear meter, 1,520 pieces per pallet, and 0.775 kg per unit.
This piece can be referred to by terms such as terracotta baseboard, rustic ceramic baseboard, terracotta tile baseboard, terracotta skirting board, or ceramic trim for indoor and outdoor flooring.
The length should be chosen to match or coordinate with the tile format. For example, a 20-cm baseboard can be visually paired with 20-cm tiles, while 30- and 40-cm formats reduce the number of joints on long walls.
To calculate the required quantity, measure the linear meters of the perimeter, subtract any openings that will not have a baseboard, and add a margin for cuts, corners, and possible replacements. The manufacturer links this to CE marking and the UNE-EN ISO 10545-2, 10545-3, and 10545-4 tests.
