How to calculate boards and insulation for partitions
Define the real area, faces and layers of the system before estimating boards and insulation.
Measure each wall length and height, then deduct doors, windows and openings to obtain net area. Select one or two faces and one or two layers: material changes greatly between a simple lining, a two-sided partition and a double-board acoustic system.
Enter the board width and height to estimate complete units including the selected allowance. Ten percent is a useful start, but use more with many openings, sloping ceilings, junctions or difficult transport. Check the installation direction and wall height before choosing the board format.
Insulation is calculated by area. Enter the roll or panel coverage to estimate units, but choose the insulation by the complete system: stud depth, thermal or acoustic target, moisture resistance and fire requirements. Profiles, screws, tapes, joint compound and reinforcements are not included.

Quick answers before buying
Should I calculate one or two board faces?
A lining normally has one face; a partition normally has two. Also select the number of layers per face.
What board allowance do I need?
Ten percent is a common reference. Increase it for many cuts, openings or complex junctions.
How are insulation panels calculated?
Divide insulation area by the roll or panel coverage stated on the pack and round up.
Does the calculator include profiles and screws?
No. Those items depend on the system, dimensions and performance requirements.
